Good Samaritans run tours in Kyoto and we had a lovely young woman called Mamo and a trainee called Kana help us out. They took us to the Golden Pavillion which is beautiful. The pic above is of Mamo and the pic below is a better shot of the Golden Pavillion, which is World Heritage listed.
This is Kiley and Jess in front of a bonsai tree that is hundreds of years old.
This is Kiley, Jess, Kana and Mamo in front of a fountain which has a stone that it said to resemble a carp trying to swim upstream. If it ever makes it up the waterfall, apparently it will turn into a dragon. We do not hold out much hope.
Next, Kana took us shopping and we started with some Ladies Sexy Casual which was great, obviously.
Then Kana took us to a sushi train restaurant which even had an actual train in the shape of a shinkansen that made its way round the restaurant when you asked for something special.
They even had “hamburger sushi” which Kana described as “junk” so then we felt bad about wanting to try it. It was Wrong Town.
We did lots more shopping and even went to the Nishiiki food market which was amazing (see photos).
